The IFAP General Conference, called the “World Farmers’ Congress” (WFC), is the flagship event of IFAP and a unique forum where farmers speak for themselves internationally. It is the occasion for farmers to challenge world leaders on global issues, to exchange common concerns and to propose their ideas to find solutions.

Farmers ... The WFC attracts farm leaders from across the globe. It brings together all IFAP member organisations and IFAP partners as well as observers.  It is an exceptional occasion to establish ties of friendship and solidarity among the farmers’ organisations of the world.

Dialogue… Farmers exchange views, and dialogue with international leaders.  Farmers examine the major problems facing agriculture worldwide and jointly seek solutions.

Governance ... The General Conference is the IFAP’s governing body, dealing with constitution and membership questions, election of officers, as well as policy. IFAP policy priorities for the next two years are established during this biennial Congress.

Elections ... The IFAP President, three Vice-Presidents, Treasurer, the 18 members of the Executive Committee, as well as the presidents of all IFAP's committees and working groups are elected at this event. It operates on the principle of one vote per country.
